Mo @ the Boston Marathon
What was the best part of your race experience?
The highlight of the race was sharing the experience with my family and friends. My wife, two daughters, parents, siblings, cousins, and my District Running Collective family were all scattered along the route. The support from my personal cheer squad and the DRC Cheer Squad was, without a doubt, the best part of the race.
How was this race different than other races?
The Boston Marathon stood out from any other race for several reasons. It was the final marathon I needed to complete to earn my sixth star, which made the experience uniquely nostalgic. Additionally, the unity and support within the running community, particularly the Black running community, were incredibly strong. I had the honor of being inducted into the class of 2024 Black Unicorns and enjoyed several fantastic events hosted by PYNRS.
Did you have a mantra, goal, or "why" for this race?
Heading into the Boston Marathon, I didn't have a specific mantra or goal; my only aim was to finish the race mentally and physically strong. During the marathon, I noticed a runner with a shirt that read, "I'm here for a good time, not a good time." That phrase resonated with me and perfectly captured my experience over the 26.2 miles run.
