RACE Theme
This year’s race theme, "SEEDED", embodies the transformative power of running. Just as harsh conditions forge resilient plants, running fortifies us, preparing us to face challenges in our world, country, and community. With every heartbeat, we plant the seeds of perseverance. Each bead of sweat waters our resolve, and with every stride, our goals rise taller and stronger. Join us in celebrating the strength we cultivate through running and the unbreakable roots we establish together.
The finish line is our harvest — the results of our hard work. But even after the race, what we've planted remains, roots intertwined, creating a strong foundation for our community to withstand anything. One seed can produce many fruits, and together, we can bring about generational change.
District 19 is more than just a race; it's a movement. It empowers runners to positively impact their communities while achieving personal goals. Whether you're a seasoned marathoner or a first-time participant, you'll find inspiration and camaraderie here. Join us and be part of something special!
About DISTRICT 19
This October, we proudly celebrate a decade of impact with our fifth annual District 19 race series. As a cornerstone event of the District Running Collective, District 19 has become a symbol of unity and strength for the DC running community. Building on the tremendous success of last year’s 10-year anniversary celebration, we're committed to making 2024 even more spectacular. Join us for an unforgettable race experience that not only highlights the spirit and resilience of our runners but also showcases the growth and evolution of our collective. Get ready for a bigger, better, and more exhilarating event as we push the boundaries and continue our journey together.
District 19 is a dynamic race experience originally created to help DC runners cope with the cancellation of the fall race season and long-distance race experience during the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. We chose the number 19 for our annual race series to continue to pay homage to those we’ve lost but also the tremendous perspective gained in the year 2020.
Our miles are forever dedicated to you. For our city, our communities, and the culture. These miles are coming.

You can think of it as a normal weekend long run where everyone has the same route as you. Both courses will start and end at the same location and there will be course markers along the way to guide you.

Race start time
7:30AM
Seeding Times + Corral Waves
In order to ensure a safe start in the 19 Miler, 19K and 5K, we will be lining up runners into corrals based on submitted times at race sign-up. Corrals will be released in increments to avoid crowding throughout the race. Therefore, it is important that runners adhere to their designated corral and do not show up early during other start times. Individuals that do not submit a time will be placed in the last corral of the race.
Time Limit
In order to ensure safety of runners and volunteers, we will leave the course open for five hours after the start of the last wave for each race. Therefore, all water stations and other volunteer resources will no longer be available after this cut-off time.
