Yvesner Zamar

Yvesner “Yves” Zamar is a DRC member and PBF Sports Co-Founder. In addition, Yves is a dedicated public servant & a #socialsports All-American #AtTheSameDamnTime. This New York born, South Florida raised Haitian-American is hard to miss as you can find him constantly running his mouth at any #PBFSports event. If you somehow didn't know, Yves is a proud alum of The Florida State University, like his “uncle” Hall of Famer NFLer, Deion Sanders.  He is a director at The William Group with nearly a decade of federal and state government service, including the past six years on Capitol Hill.

How did you start running?

I ran track back in high school, like all other high school athletes in South Florida. I played football, but coaches were always telling us you need to run track too, so I did 400s and 800s. I really didn't start running longer distances until I had torn my ACL playing flag football here in DC and was sports deprived.

How did you hear about DRC?

I had a couple of friends who ran with DRC out of The Coupe at the time.  I remember 5ks being such a long distance on Wednesdays but loved the brunch and wings. I have been around ever since.

What are you doing to maintain peace of mind during these unprecedented times?

It has been interesting because I can't stay still and was feeling anxious. I am so plugged in to everything all the time and this pandemic has allowed me the luxury to do things that I would not normally have time for but always wanted to do. So I started cycling, golfing and really getting into mixology. I wanted to be in the best physical shape because with this virus you never know so I wanted to prepare my body just in case and since I never half ass anything, so when I start something or am interested, I go all in. I also had the privilege to obtain two jobs during all this and having time for my interests has been good for me.

A Random Fun Fact:

My first race was the Miami Marathon. Who does this, but Yves?

How has being raised by your mother who was the first of the family to immigrate from Haiti to the US influence you?

No was never an option. She always found resolve and got things done even when there didn't seem to be a way. I definitely operate in that way. She is a great model of someone who is caring and compassionate about others and putting others first always – very giving. Those are qualities that I carry on from her to me everyday, because I absolutely love helping and doing for others.

Why do you run DRC?

Community is something that comes natural to me and I genuinely enjoy meeting new people. This is why I did Pardon the Interception (PTi), a flag football team, as well. PTi and DRC bring like-minded people together to create a lifestyle, a brand, if you will.

Mantra I live by:

If you look good, you feel good.
If you feel good, you play good.
If you play good, they pay good.
–Deion Sanders
