Hustle Clean Spotlight: Jason German
Son, father, husband, captain, coach, and business owner are just a few titles that make up Jason German. FOMO from the first Midnight on Mars run and a pop-up fitness event that DRC assisted with got Jason motivated for his first Wednesday run with DRC and here today as one of DRC's amazing captains.
His motivation comes from two little people (Bean and Deuce) that call him dad – and his wife, Traci. Jason stays active in the community with inspiration from Charlie Dark, someone he really admires from the running community, who used the term “ambassador of movement” to describe themselves and their role in wellness. That resonated with him and his approach to health and wellness. “Whether it’s running with DRC, Boxing for Peace (children’s fitness) or Boxing with Bae (couples fitness) my goal is to keep the community moving.” This year, Jason plans to ease back into race mode. Next year, he has his eye on another marathon and running sub 4 hours.
A fun fact about him is that over the past year, he’s been working to add the title of DJ to his resume. DJ Shonuff is available for cookouts, kickbacks, and any other place looking for a vibe. When asked “how do you pick your playlist?” His response was simple: “My music is the soundtrack to my runs. For long runs I like to mix it up. Some soulful house or Amapiana usually will kick off my runs and I’ll finish it off with something like some classic Dipset or Mobb Deep. Every hero needs his theme music.”
Curious on how he balances his community activity, with being a husband and father, there is no outline or guide to it, but Jason’s answer was pure: “It’s a full time job for sure. I’m not sure how balanced each role is. I’m still a dad when I’m coaching, still a husband when I’m running, it’s all 100% Jason no matter which hat I happen to be wearing.”
